End of Lease Info

End of Lease Options at Daytona Nissan

When your lease is at the end of its term, there are a few things to keep in mind as you prepare for what's next. Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation (NMAC) makes the process easy for you.

Nissan will be in touch with you as the end of your lease approaches. NMAC sends out letters prior to the end of your lease. The letters outline your options (see below) and include a wear-and-use guidebook.

Of course Nissan would like for you to lease or buy a new Nissan, however, you have three (3) options once you fulfill your lease obligations.

Start a New Lease or Buy a Vehicle

Turn in your current vehicle and lease or buy a new Nissan. Our Owner Loyalty Offers help make this an attractive option.

Vehicle Inspection

Before your lease expires, contact the Nissan Lease Customer Network at (800) 778-4211 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Central Time to set up a complimentary vehicle inspection. This inspection may help you avoid a wear-and-use charge for items that may be covered by your insurance policy (such as a damaged windshield). And it will help you decide what to do with your leased vehicle.

This inspection takes approximately 30 minutes, and can be done at Daytona Nissan, your home, or your place of business. It will be performed using a laptop computer, and the results will be printed immediately after the inspection. The inspector will review the report with you and address your questions. You will be given a copy of the condition report. A second copy will be left in your vehicle, and should remain in the vehicle until the time of return.

Should your vehicle's condition change prior to its return due to repairs or additional damage, another inspection will be necessary. To schedule your re-inspection, please call the Nissan Lease Customer Network.

Owner Loyalty Offers

NMAC wants to make it easy for you to buy or lease another Nissan. That's why Nissan rewards current customers with incentives to purchase or lease a new Nissan. Nissan will waive wear and use charges. When you lease or purchase a new Nissan, Nissan will waive up to $500 of excess wear-and-use liability on your current NMAC lease.

Offer good from 120 days prior to or 30 days after customer's termination of lease. The registered owner's name of the currently leased Nissan must be the same as the registered owner of the new Nissan or held in joint ownership. Customer must satisfy all obligations to NMAC in accordance with their current lease agreement. The excess-wear-and-use waiver does not apply to excess mileage fees. See dealer for details.

Lease contracts dated on/after January 6, 2009 are subject to a disposition fee at time of contract termination, if applicable.

Purchase Your Current Vehicle

Keep the Nissan you are currently driving and avoid potential charges.

If you purchase your vehicle, you can avoid excess mileage, wear, and use charges. You will not be responsible for any costs other than the predetermined purchase option price and the incidental charges stated in your Nissan lease contract or required by law. These may include sales tax, vehicle registration, a purchase option fee, etc. Certain state and local laws may require you to pay a smog or safety inspection fee, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions About Lease Returns

Please complete the "Contact Us" form on the right and we will contact you to schedule a convenient time to turn in your leased vehicle.

Q: What does the lease return process entail?
A: Although many Leases differ from Lender to Lender, a basic lease return will consist of a simple visual inspection of the vehicle, taking record of the current mileage on the vehicle, and signing a receipt acknowledging that the vehicle was returned. If your bank has other requirements that you were made aware of, or you had recently had the vehicle inspected by your bank, please bring that information with you as it will be helpful in the proper termination of your lease.

Q: What if I am over on the mileage allowed on my lease and/or there is damage or excessive wear and tear to the vehicle?
A: Your mileage allowance and applicable penalty was predetermined at the inception of your lease. Typically, lenders charge between $0.15 to $0.25 per mile over your allowance, although this amount varies. Wear and tear is generally determined to be "excessive" if there is damage to the car beyond a reasonable expectation for the length of time you had the vehicle. This, too, varies from lender to lender but can usually be defined once the lender has inspected your vehicle. Most lenders will bill you for the mileage penalty and excess wear and tear after the vehicle has been picked up from the dealership.

Q: Are there any other "turn in" or "disposition" fees that I should be aware of:
A: These fees, commonly known as "disposition fees" are predetermined at the inception of your lease. Please refer to your original lease contract to determine if such a fee is applicable. Many lenders charge between $400 and $800 for the final disposition of a lease.

Q: When do I get my security deposit back?
A: If your lease required a security deposit, this money will be sent to you, less any mileage and/or wear and tear penalties. Please refer to your original lease contract to determine if a security deposit was made.

Q: What should I bring with me to the dealership when I terminate my leased vehicle:
A: Bringing your lease agreement, any recent inspection reports, spare keys, vehicle manual and your maintenance records on the vehicle can be helpful in expediting your lease return. Your lender may charge you for missing items such as spare keys or other equipment that came with the vehicle.
